Special Event Fares for 2013

Some, but not all, of our Special Events have revised fares in operation. These revised fares are shown in the table below.

As with most of our fares, advance purchase saves money on the fare charged at one of our stations on the day of your visit.

On the day fares...

These are the fares that you will pay if purchased from one of our stations on the day of your visit. The table below lists these fares. The fares shown are valid for one day and offer 'Freedom of the Line'. This means that you can get on and off the trains as many times as you wish, at all stations where the trains are scheduled to stop, throughout the day. They also permit FREE admission to The Engine House, our Visitor Centre at Highley.

Pre-book & save ...

Discount fares are available for most special events. These fares have the same validity as the normal fares described and can now be purchased online, by telephone or at Kidderminster, Bewdley & Bridgnorth stations PRIOR  to the date of your visit.

Special event tickets are available to book at least one month prior to the event.

A £1.00 booking fee applies to online and telephone bookings.

Freedom of the Line - for a fully inclusive day out
Fares highlighted in blue are our best value fares, they are called 'Freedom of the Line'. They permit unlimited travel on the day of your visit and FREE admission to The Engine House, our Visitor Centre at Highley.

First Class Travel - go on spoil yourself!
Buy your third class ticket at the booking office and then buy a first class supplement from the Travelling Ticket Inspector on the train. The following first class fares apply per SINGLE end-to-end journey. There are no reductions for short journeys.

Family Tickets
Family 'Freedom of the Line' tickets permit two adults and up to four children (4-15 yrs) to travel and cost £49.50 each.

'Freedom of the Line' validity applies.

Flexi Rovers - ideal if you are staying locally
Choose any consecutive period of no more than 7 days (which MUST exclude any dates on which revised fares are charged) when our daily train service is operating. Then decide on the number of days that you would like to travel within that period. With the Flexi-Rover ticket you choose which days you travel in the period on a day-by-day basis.

For every day that you add, the fare that you pay per day gets cheaper and cheaper!

Family Pass - new for the regular visitor
For purchase in advance only, our brand new Family Season Pass is a great way to visit the Severn Valley Railway as many times as you like in any 12 month period.

£95.00 per year.

Valid for two adults and up to four children (under 4s travel free).





'Freedom of the Line' validity applies. Valid on all dates when timetables A, B & C are in operation. Not valid on dates shown as special events in our brochure when revised fares are in operation.
 Pre-book & Save
Discounts are available on our 'Freedom of the Line' fares if booked five days in advance. Pre-booking gives an approximate discount of 10% off the fare charged at our stations on the day of your visit as follows:

Special Events
 Revised fares will be in operation for some of our special events. Please see the relevant special event for more information.



Less Able Visitors
We do NOT allow discounts for less able passengers themselves but we do offer a discount for carers who accompany and assist the less able in a variety of ways during their visit. This discount offered to carers is equivalent to the child rate for the journey or activity. One 'carer fare' is permitted per less able person travelling.

Senior Citizens
Whether male or female, passengers qualify for senior citizen rates at the age of 60 years.

Other Fares
Cycles: Are carried at the discretion of the Guard - £2.00 each for any journey, single or return during the day.

Dogs: £2.00 each for any journey, single or return during the day. Dogs may travel on our trains, except in the dining cars, but are NOT admitted to The Engine House Visitor Centre. Assistance dogs travel free on our trains and are admitted to the Visitor Centre.

Pushchairs and buggies: Are carried free of charge.

Through Tickets from your Local Station
You can purchase through tickets from your local station or Travel Centre which include travel on the SVR.

Ask for ' Bridgnorth SVR'

Fares payable will vary depending on the mainline station at which you begin your journey and will provide a discount on  the two fares purchased separately
