These courses give you the opportunity to drive a large standard gauge railway locomotive under the supervision of qualified staff on one of the country’s premier preserved railways. Three levels of steam courses are available, each of which is designed to meet the aspirations of those interested in the operation of steam locomotives. There is also a diesel course using selected examples of our unique fleet of diesel locomotives.
The steam locomotives used on the course are usually ex-GWR or ex-LMS tender engines. Diesels locomotives include both diesel electric and diesel hydraulic types.
All courses are either morning or afternoon half day courses starting at Bewdley and travelling to Bridgnorth and return (via Kidderminster in the case of the Supreme course and winter introductory courses). Participants' guests, including children aged five years of age and over, can be accommodated on steam courses.
Courses can be booked by calling our office on 01299 403816, Monday to Friday 9.30am – 4.30pm
