Help build the SVR’s future
Our ground-breaking Share Offer programme, launched on 1st November, has raised over £920,000 as of Friday 3rd February 2017!
2.5 million shares, at £1 each, are now on sale, with the entire proceeds being used to create much-improved visitor facilities at Bridgnorth – to an historic GWR design, at the same time conserving the existing station building, which dates back to 1862.
The Bridgnorth Development Programme consists of three key work phases, the first two of which will be funded through share offer proceeds.
Phase one work includes construction of a refreshment room and toilets, alterations to Grade II listed buildings to increase space in The Railwayman’s Arms pub, relocation of the existing shop to reinstate the original booking hall and waiting room and extensive tree planting.
Phase two includes the installation of the former Bristol (Bath Road) turntable in the locomotive yard, the removal of incongruous modern sheds to improve access and views, improvements to customer car parking and enhanced road access.
Phase three, and subject to the availability of funding, will feature a new on-site accommodation building for our volunteers.
Work on the project is underway; one of the first jobs is the installation of reinforced-concrete-filled steel piles to stabilise the ground.
