Following the hugely successful event last year, 2017's diesel bonanza brings great opportunities for visiting locomotives and, with the lighter evenings, we are sure that May will be a hit with those who love the sounds of English Electric, Maybach and Sulzer diesel engines!

The event, and theme, will mark the 30th anniversary of the first Severn Valley Railway Diesel Gala. Additionally, the festival will celebrate two other milestones: the 40th anniversary of the last Class 52 runs on British Railways, and the 25th anniversary of the first Class 50 runs on the SVR. Lookout for a number of special attractions to make these poignant occasions.

30 Years of Diesels on the SVR - Commemorative DVD

The Severn Valley Railway held its first diesel gala in May 1987. Over the following thirty years, the railway staged many more ground-breaking events, which attracted an impressive array of visiting locomotives. Thirty years later, the majority of diesel locomotive classes - old and new - have reached the far end of the line at Bridgnorth. From the humble Class 08 shunter, to the mighty Class 59, the events have featured a diverse range diesel traction - most of which never visited the line in the British Railways era. This 100 minute DVD features 90 different locomotives in action - this really is the footage of the first 30 years of diesel galas.

For just £5.00 per DVD, don't miss this fantastic offer at our Spring Diesel Festival! Available from our shops at Kidderminster, The Engine House and Bridgnorth from May 18th - 20th only.
