Branchline Weekend

Celebrating 35 years since the arrival of the first DMU on the Severn Valley Railway, you’ll be able to see how branchline railways evolved over time.
What to expect at the Branchline Weekend? Enjoy an intensive timetable featuring short local-hauled trains, autotrain workings, and diesel multiple units, recreating the hustle and bustle of a traditional branchline. Plus, award-winning Eardington Station will be open on both days to visit. Ride on-board each type of train, visit The Engine House at Highley to break your day, or sample the finest real-ales in our pubs, as you experience the Severn Valley as it used to be!
Explore our hidden gem – Eardington Station! At award-winning Eardington Station, Volunteer Lampman Phil will be giving talks each day at 12.40pm and 2pm, the new Goods Lock Up will be open for Tales from the Goods Shed, have a go at our Lamp Quiz (spoiler alert… it’s not really about lamps at all!) and enjoy a wide selection of home-made cakes. Open 8.15am – 5.45pm Saturday, and 8.15am – 5.30pm Sunday.

Important Information:
- Purchase tickets in advance and save up to 20%. Tickets can also be purchased on the day from the booking office.
- Freedom of the Line tickets offer travel all day, or there are short journey options available from each end of the line to Highley or Arley.
- Small Family tickets permit travel for one adult and up to two children. Large Family tickets permit travel for two adults and up to four children.
- The Engine House, visitor centre at Highley, is open 10.45am-4.30pm (last entry 4pm).
- If you haven’t been to the SVR before, there are some suggestions of how to spend the day on the itineraries.
- Eardington station has many uneven surfaces and limited facilities, which may not suit those with limited mobility.
