Step back into the golden age of steam at the Severn Valley Railway

Running trains for over 60 years, the Severn Valley Railway is one of the UK’s leading heritage railways and a great family day out. Join us for an unforgettable day out, as you travel over 16 miles of restored railway, seated in lovingly-restored period carriages and hauled by vintage steam and diesel trains. One of the best attractions in Worcestershire and Shropshire.

Start your journey at Kidderminster, Bewdley or Bridgnorth and with a Freedom of the Line ticket, you choose where you go, how long you stay and how much you fit into your day. You can travel all day, visiting every station, including The Engine House at Highley – this is our best-value and most flexible ticket.

For shorter visits, Short Journey tickets are ideal for families or those combining their trip with other local attractions. Starting at Kidderminster or Bridgnorth, enjoy a short journey to Highley for The Engine House and Country Park, or Arley for the beautiful riverside village and Arley Arboretum.

Whether you come for a short ride or a day of discovery, a visit to the Severn Valley Railway is unforgettable — from the sight and sound of a steam engine at the platform to peaceful countryside stops along the way, every journey ends with a memory.

Road works in Bridgnorth – September 2026

From Monday 14 September through to Friday 2 October, highway improvement works are scheduled in the Bridgnorth town. This will involve some road closures at different times and on different days. Roads effected include Underhill Street, Hollybush Road, New Road and West Castle Street.

Shropshire Highways have said that access to the SVRs Bridgnorth station will be maintained. On some days this will be via high town as roads in low town will be closed, but diversions and temporary lights and signage will be in place.

If you visiting the railway and starting from Bridgnorth, please allow plenty of time as traffic delays are expected, during these dates. More information is available on the One Network website.
