Road works in Bridgnorth – September 2026

From Monday 14 September through to Friday 2 October, highway improvement works are scheduled in the Bridgnorth town.

This will involve some road closures at different times and on different days. Roads effected include Underhill Street, Hollybush Road, New Road and West Castle Street.

Shropshire Highways have said that access to the SVRs Bridgnorth station will be maintained. On some days this will be via high town as roads in low town will be closed, but diversions and temporary lights and signage will be in place.

If you visiting the railway and starting from Bridgnorth, please allow plenty of time as traffic delays are expected, during these dates. More information is available on the One Network website.

Starting your day at KidderMinster

  • Join the train at Kidderminster and travel to the picturesque town of Bewdley. Leave the train here to enjoy a couple of hours in the Georgian riverside town; there’s plenty of independent shops, eateries, bakeries, riverside walks and a free museum. The town is aproximately half a mile from the station. After some time in Bewdley, it’s back to the station to catch a lunchtime train on to Highley for The Engine House Visitor Centre. We’d suggest allowing over an hour to enjoy our indoor museum, before re-boarding the train to continue your journey to Bridgnorth. Bridgnorth is a historic market town, with castle ruins and gardens, as well as cliff railway, linking high-town, with low-town. Mid-afternoon, get back to the station and re-board the train for the journey all the way back to Kidderminster.
