Half term family adventures
We can’t wait to welcome you on board the Severn Valley Railway this half term break. Step back in time to the golden age of travel with both steam and diesel hauled trains on the following dates:
- Timetable B – Saturday 14, Tuesday 17 – Thursday 19 and Saturday 21 February
- Timetable A – Sunday 15 and Sunday 22 February
The railway is closed on Monday 16 and Friday 20 February.
Plus, there’ll be plenty of family fun, with story time appearances from the much-loved character Paddington™. Tickets can be pre-booked for Tuesday 17 to Thursday 19 February.
There’s so much to see, do and discover on a day out at the Severn Valley Railway, including FREE ENTRY to The Engine House Visitor Centre. Alight at Highley Station and then it’s just a short walk to The Engine House where you can get close to some very special locomotives, including ‘Gordon’ the blue engine, and take a peek through the windows of King George VI’s royal carriage. There’s café, balcony to watch the trains, gift shop and plenty to keep everyone occupied.
Trains operate between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth. The trains stop at all of our intermediate stations, so you can get off to explore Bewdley, Arley, Highley and Hampton Loade. Find out more about our stations and what to do. At Kidderminster and Bridgnorth, the trains take a short break, so you can see the locomotives up close.
For those spending some time exploring Kidderminster, the Museum of Carpet is a 5 – 10 minute walk. Its open for Half Term on Saturday 14 & 21 February, Tuesday 17 and Thursday 19 February.

Important Information:
- Purchase tickets in advance and save up to 20%. Tickets can also be purchased on the day from the booking office.
- Freedom of the Line tickets offer travel all day, or there are short journey options available from each end of the line to Highley or Arley.
- Small Family tickets permit travel for one adult and up to two children. Large Family tickets permit travel for two adults and up to four children.
- The Engine House, visitor centre at Highley, is open 10.45am-4.30pm (last entry 4pm).
