Paddington Character Visit

Take an exciting heritage train ride out into the countryside to see Paddington™ and listen to tales of his adventures during story time at regular intervals throughout the day at The Engine House Visitor Centre, Highley.
Pre-book a train ticket and travel from either Kidderminster or Bridgnorth. On arrival at Highley, for The Engine House, you can see Paddington™ during pre-booked story time sessions, before exploring the interactive exhibits. There will also be other family activities throughout the day for everyone to enjoy – all included in your ticket price!
What’s at The Engine House? The Engine House is a short walk from Highley Station, and it’s where you can get up-close-and-personal with some very special locomotives. Check out the impressive blue-liveried LMR 600 ‘Gordon’, as well as LMS Stanier 8F 48773, which had a famous encounter with a camel in World War II, and many more full-size, out-of-service engines. There’s a cafe, gift shop, play area and toilets, as well as mini-golf and magic shows throughout the day. If the weather’s nice, you can enjoy a walk down to the river or up into the Severn Valley Country Park.

FAQs
- Can I experience story time more than once? No, your train departure time and story time sessions are specific to your booking. Please be at The Engine House for the character appearance time stated on your ticket.
- What train can I go on? You need to travel on the date and train time shown on your ticket. You will not be permitted to select the part of the train that you sit in. Once you have travelled on this train, you may travel on any other service back to your starting station.
- What happens at The Engine House? At your booked character visit time, you will gain entry to the designated area in The Engine House to see the character, who will be appearing during story time sessions led by a narrator.
- Are shareholder passes/vouchers valid? No, there are no discounts available.

Important Information:
The train departure time and character story time are specific to your booking. Please travel on the train departure booked and be at The Engine House for the character appearance time stated on your ticket.
- Children under four do not count towards the number of people in your group; they travel free of charge, but must not take up a seat on the train.
- Purchase tickets in advance and save up to 20%. Tickets can also be purchased on the day from the booking office (subject to availability).
- Small Family tickets permit travel for one adult and up to two children. Large Family tickets permit travel for two adults and up to four children.
- The Engine House, visitor centre at Highley, is open 10.45am-4.30pm (last entry 4pm).
- Freedom of the Line – a whole day ticket, valid for travel over the whole length of the railway. Once you’ve travelled on your booked outward train and visited The Engine House, you can spend the rest of the day on the trains visiting other stations if you have time.
- Kidderminster or Bridgnorth to Highley, return – a shorter journey to Highley and back only. Once you’ve travelled on your booked outward train and visited The Engine House, you must travel back to your starting station. Travel beyond Highley is not covered by this ticket.
