Two more guests added to Severn Valley Railway’s Spring Diesel Festival

The Severn Valley Railway has added an additional two guests to the line-up for its Spring Diesel Festival, which takes place between Thursday 18th and Sunday 21st May.

Class 31 31270 and an as-yet-unnamed Class 88 join a bumper locomotive roster, courtesy of Colne Valley Diesels and Direct Rail Services respectively.

The Class 88 locomotive will operate services only on the Saturday and Sunday of the event.

The two additional visitors mean that seven guests have now been announced for the Severn Valley Railway’s bumper diesel event, with more set to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

The event will celebrate 50 years of diesel preservation, and will feature14 different classes,  including D821 and Class 33 33108, both boasting eye-catching new liveries.

Jonathan ‘Gus’ Dunster, managing director of the Severn Valley Railway, said: “This is a truly momentous occasion that we think deserved a locomotive line-up on a scale that has never been seen before on a heritage railway.

“Whatever your preference of locomotive traction, there’s definitely going to be something to interest you during four days of intensively timetabled celebrations.”

Tickets can be purchased at SVR.CO.UK, with savings to be made when purchasing tickets for multiple days or if booking as a Severn Valley Railway member.
